IndianConsumerism exists to understand how people across India choose, spend, save, trade off, aspire, and adapt. We study where those changes create new business opportunities.

Why this publication

India is too varied to be understood through a single national average. Income, wealth, generation, household structure, region, language, infrastructure, and category all shape consumer decisions. We connect those layers instead of reducing them to one headline.

The aim is to build a continuously updated intelligence hub: a place for careful long-form research, useful frameworks, primary evidence, market maps, and opportunity theses that make their sources and limitations clear.

What we cover

Spending patterns, preferences, behaviour change, generations, income and wealth segments, affluent and HNI consumers, middle- and lower-income households, regions, city tiers, rural and urban India, and the sectors where these forces meet.

What useful looks like

Research should help a reader see a consumer decision more clearly, notice a changing pattern earlier, challenge a comfortable assumption, or identify a question worth investigating. Opportunity is a conclusion to earn, not a label to add.
